What I think would have happened if nobody had complained about it, then Reem would be on the byline next. If a firestorm of complaints isn’t happening against the advancement of AI into creative spaces then it will happen insidiously and then it is ubiquitous without us putting up any resistance. Also I made a decision to stop reading it on the account that its actual name is an anachronism that I think is deplorable in the times we are in.
Interesting! I don’t see it that way - I’m more concerned about the IG influencers using it to generate their captions and posts to sell to us, whilst calling themselves “creatives” or “creators” which I think is a real dilution of quality. I’d love to see platforms search posts for AI content - like universities do - before they can be posted. And other covert ways too. I genuinely don’t think this was that. I hear what you say about the name - it makes me wince a bit, but i have to say I really do enjoy the content, so it’s more that that I judge it on. I feel like printed magazines have got away with the aspirational stuff throughout economic good times and bad, so it sits ok, for me. Certainly an interesting debate to be had!
Yes I take your point Úna too. I mean I love buying the odd luxury item also but that’s what I’d like to see more represented, magazines recognizing that the clever shopper mixes it up !
